This moment is more than a financial achievement—it’s a powerful validation of the mission of our physicians to transform neurological care and support the clinicians and hospitals who deliver it every day.

As a physician, I’ve always believed that healthcare innovation must be rooted in service. That’s why Sevaro’s name comes from the Sanskrit word Seva, meaning selfless service.

This is a belief that I’ve grown up following and have seen its impact on others. It is with this mindset that Sevaro was built to be the most reliable partner for hospitals, and the best place for neurologists to work. This funding allows us to deepen that commitment and further our impact to serve more patients nationwide and around the world.

What This Means for Our Hospital Partners

For hospitals and health systems already working with Sevaro, this Series B is a signal: we’re doubling down on our promise to deliver high-quality, physician-led virtual neurology that improves outcomes and strengthens your workforce.

Our flagship platform, Synapse AI, is at the heart of this transformation. Designed by physicians for physicians, Synapse AI enables real-time collaboration between hospital teams and virtual specialists. It streamlines documentation, automates data capture, and integrates seamlessly with existing EMRs, imaging systems, and workflows

Whether used as a standalone solution or bundled with Sevaro’s virtual neurologists, Synapse AI empowers hospitals to deliver faster, smarter care.

These aren’t just numbers—they’re lives impacted, clinicians supported, and families served in their own communities.

With this new capital, we’re expanding beyond telestroke and acute neurology. Our virtual services now include:

Expanding Services That Reduce Transfers and Drive Hospital Growth

  • Post-acute coordination

We’re also providing flexible coverage into related specialties like Cardiology, Infectious disease, Behavioral health, and Surgery. This hybrid model allows hospitals to scale strategically, reduce transfers, and ensure continuity of care across the entire patient journey.

Fighting Burnout by Building a Better Place for Neurologists to Work

Healthcare is facing a staffing crisis. Burnout is real, and coverage gaps are growing. Our model doesn’t just fill shifts—it supports clinicians with tools that make their work more sustainable. Synapse AI’s intelligent automation reduces documentation fatigue, while our virtual teams provide flexible coverage that adapts a hospital’s needs.

Our physicians are trained at top academic institutions and selected not just for their clinical excellence, but for their commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care. We’re proud to be the preferred platform for neurologists nationwide.

The Hybrid, AI-Powered Future of Neurology Is Here

This Series B is a vote of confidence in our vision, but it’s also a challenge: to keep innovating, keep listening, and keep serving. We’re investing in new technology, expanding our analytics capabilities, and hiring leaders like Jason Bond, our new CFO, who brings deep expertise in healthcare finance and value-based care.

To our current partners: thank you for trusting us. Your feedback, collaboration, and shared commitment to excellence have shaped Sevaro into what it is today.

To hospitals considering virtual, the future of neurology is no longer a distant vision— it’s here. It’s hybrid, intelligent, and designed around the patient. With Sevaro, hospitals no longer have to choose between exceptional clinical quality and financial sustainability. We deliver both seamlessly, so that the true beneficiaries are the patients and communities you serve.

Together, we can build the next chapter of specialty care.

After Transforming Neurological Care, Sevaro Secures $39M to Expand AI Powered Specialty Care Platform

September 18, 2025
Sevaro in the news thumbnail

New York, NY, September 18, 2025Sevaro Health, the company transforming neurological care in the United States, today announced the close of a $39 million oversubscribed Series B funding round

The round was led by Valtruis, an investment platform launched by Welsh, Carson, Anderson and Stowe, dedicated to advancing the next generation of healthcare, and Intermountain Ventures, the innovation fund of Intermountain Health, with continued support from early investors APA and Catalyst.

As hospitals grapple with unprecedented staffing shortages, rising patient demand, and the shift toward value-based care, Sevaro provides a proven model that ensures both clinical excellence and financial sustainability. This capital will strengthen Sevaro’s commitment to its health system partners by accelerating innovation, deepening integrations, and expanding its hybrid workforce model.

“Sevaro has built something unique—a scalable model for virtual neuroscience backed by proven results,” said Anna Haghgooie, Managing Partner at Valtruis. “They’re giving hospitals the resources needed to deliver advanced care to communities, without compromise.”

At the heart of Sevaro’s model is Synapse AI—a powerful platform that seamlessly connects hospital teams with virtual specialists throughout the entire patient journey. In addition to acute neurology and neurohospitalist services, Sevaro leads clinical innovation, building turn-key Virtual Institutes of Neuroscience Excellence. As one of the first in the industry to deliver care across the full continuum—from ambulance to ambulatory care—Sevaro offers virtual neurology clinics, physical medicine and rehabilitation expertise, lifestyle coaching, and coordinated care solutions.

Sevaro has revolutionized neurological care in hundreds of hospitals—and now, that same proven model is expanding into other specialties. This hybrid model delivers flexible coverage in neurology and a growing range of specialties including hospitalist medicine, cardiology, infectious disease, behavioral health, surgery, neurosurgery, and neurointerventional radiology.

For hospitals, Synapse AI serves as an extension of their own workforce — helping prevent coverage gaps, reduce burnout, and ensure timely, backup coverage through seamless workflow automation.

Hospitals partnering with Sevaro are already seeing measurable results. One health system saved over $4M in the first year by increasing access to virtual neurology care and reducing unnecessary hospital transfers—keeping patients in their communities. Sevaro partners also report an average of 25 seconds to reach a neurologist, increased referrals, and improved provider satisfaction.

“This funding validates what we’ve believed from day one, that hospitals deserve a model where quality and financial performance go hand in hand,” said Dr. Rajiv Narula, Founder and CEO of Sevaro Health. “Synapse AI isn’t just a solution for coverage, it’s our commitment to building the future of specialty care where physicians are proud to practice, and every patient in the world receives the care they deserve.”

The funding comes as Sevaro expands its leadership team, appointing Jason Bond as CFO and SVP of Strategy, underscoring the company’s commitment to building a category-leading enterprise platform. Bond brings leadership experience from Mount Sinai, Yale New Haven Health, and CityMD, with expertise in health system finance, mergers and acquisitions, and value-based care.

Every Hospital Deserves Access to World-Class Neurology Care

TL;DR Summary

Hospitals often ask: “How can we provide 24/7 access to neurologists, improve stroke care speed, and reduce burnout—without overloading our staff?”

The answer is Sevaro’s Synapse AI with the Hybrid Model. It’s an all-in-one teleneurology platform that integrates directly with your hospital’s existing systems—EMR, imaging, video, documentation—and connects you to Sevaro’s board-certified neurologists when coverage gaps occur.

This combination gives hospitals faster response times, improved patient outcomes, and a safety net for nights, weekends, and high-volume days, while protecting in-house teams from burnout.

Fixing the Problems That Slow Down Patient Care

Hospitals have long struggled with providing 24/7 neurology coverage. Gaps in call schedules, delays in reaching specialists, and fragmented systems all create unnecessary risk for patients.

Sevaro changes that. We built solutions that make it easier for physicians to treat patients, while improving outcomes for hospitals and their communities.

Through Synapse AI—our all-in-one neurology platform—hospitals can streamline communication, automate documentation, and connect directly to the right neurologist at the right time.

Why Every Hospital Can Have World-Class Neurology Coverage

With Sevaro, geography and staffing shortages no longer limit access to expert neurology care. Every hospital, from rural facilities to major urban centers, can have 24/7 access to board-certified neurologists for stroke patients and neurological emergencies.

Our Teleneurology Services connect hospitals with experienced specialists who integrate seamlessly into existing workflows. That means faster response times, fewer delays, and a stronger support system for in-house providers.

The Sevaro Hybrid Model: Your Team + Our Team = Better Care

Not every hospital needs a full-time virtual neurology team—but every hospital needs reliable backup. That’s why we offer the Sevaro Hybrid model.

Here’s how it works:

  • Your neurologists handle the daily patient load.

  • Sevaro’s neurologists step in for nights, weekends, high-volume days, or unexpected coverage gaps.

  • We integrate directly with your systems and EMRs so our providers feel like part of your team from day one.

This hybrid approach reduces burnout for in-house neurologists while ensuring your hospital is never without coverage.

Technology That Supports Providers and Improves Outcomes

Our neurologists know the frustration of juggling multiple systems during a stroke code. That’s why Synapse AI combines everything—video, EMR, imaging, triage, and documentation—into one platform.

  • AI-powered documentation cuts note-taking from 15 minutes to just 3–5 minutes per patient.

  • Real-time triage ensures calls are routed instantly to the right neurologist or backup provider.

  • Performance analytics give stroke coordinators instant insights into door-to-needle times and other key metrics, without sifting through spreadsheets.

Better for Providers. Better for Patients. Better for Hospitals.

We all know healthcare should be better. At Sevaro, we’re making it happen by giving hospitals the tools, technology, and support they need to deliver world-class neurology care—every time.

When we remove the roadblocks, patients get faster treatment, providers can focus on care, and hospitals can hit their performance goals without burning out their teams.

With 85–92% predictive accuracy, Synapse AI improves decision speed by 67%, eliminates “borderline” classifications in 89% of cases, and aligns with expert consensus 91% of the time.

Hospitals using the platform report faster transfers, consistent treatment decisions, and better outcomes—marking the end of uncertainty in stroke triage.

Statistics on how Synapse AI is changing stroke care

Stroke teams face a persistent problem: “borderline cases” where patients don’t fit clear treatment guidelines. ASPECTS scores of 6-7, unclear timelines, or atypical presentations create uncertainty that can delay life-saving care.

Sevaro’s Synapse AI has eliminated this challenge entirely.

The Borderline Problem

Research shows expert clinicians struggle with complex stroke decisions. In one study, less than 50% could accurately predict outcomes in stroke scenarios, and fewer than 1% got multiple cases right. The issue? Human decision-making breaks down when variables conflict, which is exactly what defines borderline cases.

Traditional guidelines work for clear-cut presentations but fail when a young patient has severe symptoms with extensive early changes, or an elderly patient has mild symptoms with large vessel occlusion.

The AI Solution

Synapse AI transforms borderline cases through three key innovations:

  • Pattern Recognition: Machine learning trained on thousands of cases identifies subtle patterns humans miss, providing comprehensive analysis including automated ASPECTS scoring, mismatch quantification, and risk-benefit calculations.
  • Advanced Imaging: Deep learning detects early ischemic changes that might be overlooked. Studies show a 61-minute reduction in door-out times and 72-76% agreement with expert readers.
  • Personalized Prediction: Instead of population-based guidelines, the platform provides patient-specific outcome predictions with 85% accuracy for functional independence and 92% accuracy for hemorrhage risk.

Real Results

Implementation sites report dramatic improvements:

  • 67% faster decision times
  • 94% consistency in treatment recommendations
  • 89% elimination of “borderline” classification
  • Better patient outcomes without increased complications

📣 The Impact

A multi-center study of 2,800 cases found AI-assisted decisions had 91% concordance with expert consensus and significantly better functional outcomes. Most importantly, 89% of previously uncertain cases received clear treatment recommendations.

Synapse AI doesn’t just improve individual decisions—it transforms entire stroke programs by reducing transfer delays, standardizing care, and enabling confident point-of-care treatment decisions.

The era of borderline cases is over. Every stroke patient can now receive precise, confident care backed by AI-powered clinical intelligence.

CHARLOTTE, N.C., May 13, 2025 – A stroke happens every 40 seconds in the U.S.—and every minute without treatment can cost a person 1.9 million brain cells. This May, during Stroke Awareness Month Sevaro Health is shifting the narrative—and the speed—with a bold nationwide campaign designed to educate, empower, and save lives.

Sevaro, a physician-led, AI-powered virtual neurology company is setting out to educate one million children on how to recognize stroke symptoms using the B.E.F.A.S.T. method: Balance, Eyes, Face, Arms, Speech, Time to call 911.

At the heart of the initiative is the CHLD Program (Children’s Health Literacy Department) and its children’s book BEFAST, Be a Superhero—authored by a 5-year-old boy. With over 10,000 copies distributed across 25 states, the book is helping kids become first responders in their own homes. Proceeds will fund $50,000 in scholarships to students advancing stroke awareness.

“We’re not just teaching kids—we’re giving them the power to save lives,” said Dr. Rajiv Narula, CEO of Sevaro Health. “This generation can change the future of stroke care.”

In a high-octane twist, Sevaro has partnered with rising star racecar driver Donovan Strauss, who will feature the B.E.F.A.S.T. message on his No. 4 Chevrolet in key races this May:

  • May 3 – Ace Speedway (NC)
  • May 16 – North Wilkesboro Speedway (NC)
  • May 31 – Langley Speedway (VA)

“If through educating kids even one life is saved, we’ve done our job,” said Chauncey Evers, Director of Sevaro’s CHLD program.

With our name on a high-performance race car and BEFAST messaging front and center, we’re using the visibility of motorsports to reach new audiences with a life-saving message: recognizing the signs of stroke can save a life—maybe even someone you love.

When every second counts, you need more than speed—you need knowledge.

Stroke Is Serious—And More Common Than You Think

Let’s talk facts. Stroke is:

  • The 5th leading cause of death in the U.S.
  • A leading cause of long-term disability
  • Responsible for 1 in 6 cardiovascular deaths
  • Striking someone in the U.S. every 40 seconds

But here’s the good news: most strokes are preventable—and treatable—if they’re caught early.

That’s why Sevaro’s mission is clear: educate, empower, and act fast.

B.E.F.A.S.T.: The Superpower That Saves Lives

The best way to spot a stroke fast? BEFAST.
It’s an easy-to-remember acronym—and now it’s also a children’s book!

What BEFAST stands for:

  • F – Face: One side of the face droops when smiling

  • S – Speech: Slurred or hard-to-understand speech
  • T – Time: Time to call 911—immediately

💡 Every minute a stroke goes untreated, nearly 1.9 million brain cells die.
